Full Moon over Downtown Springfield Ma

Sometimes being in the right place at the right time has it advantages, but last night was not one of those times. Recently I have been trying to come up with fresh new ideas to expand my photographic exploration, and over the last few months I have been turning to solar and lunar schedules trying to plan out the perfect settings to photograph the ideas churning in my head. When I found out that on February 10th, there would be a full snow moon, I was ecstatic. I thought, what a perfect way to celebrate my birthday than with what I hoped would turn out to be some killer shots.

That evening, I ventured down to a spot which I have been many times before. I trekked through feet of fresh snow to set up shop and shoot from the riverfront overlooking Downtown Springfield. I had hoped that the vision in my head would transpose to the photos I was taking. The temperature was about 23 degrees and dropping fast, but the moon was beautiful and the brightness backlit the city perfectly. The glistening ice dams on the CT River added ever so perfectly to the surreal moment I was experiencing. I even set up my cell phone to capture the whole thing with a Instagram live post. A quick thank you to everyone who watched live and interacted, that was awesome.
